Feast does not offer support for contact forms. Our themes are designed to affect styling, not functionality, and this is outside the scope of our expertise.
The three most popular contact forms that we know of are:
- Gravity Forms
- Contact Form 7
- wpforms
We use Gravity Forms on FeastDesignCo.com, which does not have a free version.
Contact Form 7 and wpforms have limited free versions, but really require the paid version to function properly.
Why isn't there more support for this?
The reason that contact forms aren't built into WordPress, Genesis or our themes is because they're a pain and nobody wants to support them. Even hosting companies don't want to deal with it.
Email is an incredibly complex system that's heavily abused. Both new and experienced bloggers struggle to no end with this, and it's easy to spend hours on specific configurations and setups.
It's not just about adding a plugin, there are SPF and DKIM records, virus scanning and blocking, IP address sending reputation, and more.
Even once it's set up properly, in our experience, something breaks and has to be fixed every 12-18 months.
That's to say nothing of the incredible amount of spam.
This is impossible to manage and offer services for, for free.
Our recommendation is to purchase one of the paid versions above, and use the support the plugin providers include for assistance.
Alternative
Cloudflare provides high quality spam protection and email obfuscation, allowing you to simply list your email address directly on your site without being inundated with spam.
CDNs are a complex thing to set up and we recommend hiring NerdPress if you choose to pursue this.
