Google Discover is not a primary source of traffic for food blogs. It's primarily targeted at news sites and trending topics, which makes up less than 0.1% of food blog traffic.
As far as we're aware, as of 2025, there is nothing specific that can be done to increase Google Discover traffic.
We've heard some reports that changing the ratio/dimensions on the first image in a post can help qualify for Google Discover traffic, but we've seen no evidence or documentation to support this. On the contrary, this can negatively impact pagespeed which would hurt user experience and negatively impact the rest of the posts ability to qualify for regular traffic.
It's our opinion that Google Discover should be ignored. It's a nice traffic boost if you can magically get featured, but it's a pure gamble and is not worth sabotaging your regular rankings.
