    Genesis Child Themes

Foodie Pro is the number one selling Genesis child theme. Loved for it's simple, minimalist design that makes your content the star of the page, it's trusted by thousands of foodie and lifestyle bloggers around the world.

Years of fine-tuning and refining Foodie Pro has made it the most well-supported theme, and the feedback and lessons learned from our customers has led to the development of other child themes that incorporate these features.

    What is the Genesis Framework?

The Genesis framework (by Studiopress) provides a basic set of best-practice settings and configurations for WordPress, helps bloggers stay on top of updates and changes without needing to be an expert, and allows for customization with child-themes.

You can find an overview document from Studiopress here.

Install Genesis Parent Theme for WordPress

To install Genesis and a child theme, follow the tutorials for your specific theme.

What are "Parent" and "Child" Themes?

In a normal wordpress setup, there's simply a "theme" which contains both the stylistic and functional elements that make the blog look nice. WordPress is a multi-purpose platform however, being used not only for blogs but also membership sites, ecommerce stores, businesses and directories. This means that they need to be generic by necessity, which limits their usefulness.

    Genesis is a "parent" theme.

The Genesis theme, built by Studiopress, comes with some customizations and functionality that make blogging easier and more straight-forward for the non-techy blogger. It makes WordPress more blogger-friendly. It's labeled as a "framework", as it provides a skeleton "framework" that designs can be built upon, which offering a consistent set of configurations that help manage the website and stay on top of changes in the code-base.

Designers and programmers that really understand the WordPress core and it's shortcoming gathered around this "framework" to build themes that are compatible with it, providing design and aesthetics. These adopted the name "child themes", language common to design, which indicates that their functionality is inherited (is preserved) from the "parent" - Genesis.

Our themes - Foodie Pro, Brunch Pro, Cook'd Pro, Cravings Pro, Seasoned Pro - are "child" themes, which stylize the Genesis framework and are specifically catered to help foodie bloggers make their recipes look better.

To you, this means that you need to spend less time with technical issues (thanks to Genesis), and don't need to be an expert designer (thanks to our expert designers) with our themes. You can jump right into running a blog that shares your unique recipes, personal style and attitude, and start earning revenue.
