    Indexes

Note: this is a work in progress and may undergo changes.

When it makes sense to organize a site into sub-categories for SEO, user experience and topical organization purposes, creating indexes instead of parent categories is an option.

An index is just a WordPress 'page' that displays subcategories instead of posts that belong to the "parent category".

Subcategories are generally not necessary for sites that less than 300 posts.

This can be especially useful for travel sites that organize categories by region/continent, or craft websites that organize by pattern.

    Format

    The format will generally be:

    • intro paragraph
    • h2: category title
    • fsri block with the slug set to the category
    • h2: category title
    • fsri block with the slug set to the category
    • h2: category title
    • fsri block with the slug set to the category
    • etc

For mobile and pagespeed purposes, we recommend keeping the links/posts on a given page under 80.

You should follow the how to use categories guidelines.

    Advanced Jump To

You can use the advanced jump to, to make it easier for users to scroll to the correct section.
