Smooth scroll is a javascript feature that "scrolls" the screen slowly to the intended destination.
This requires the use of javascript, which slows sites and often causes conflicts with other pieces of javascript code.
Ad networks like smooth scrolling because it prevents ads from being immediately skipped over.
It can also seem fancy on desktop, and from a purely aesthetic standpoint, it's pleasant to look at.
But it's a huge pain on mobile, slows down websites, and in the real world people simply do not care about smooth scroll. When someone clicks on something, they want to be taken to that section immediately.
Because of this, we do not now or ever intend to support smooth scrolling, and recommend all websites avoid it, without exception.
